IFHAB DUTIES:
IFHAB shall:
- promote and increase the multilateral recognition and acceptance of Halal conformity assessment results issued against OIC/SMIIC standards by the Halal conformity assessment bodies accredited by the members through the IFHAB Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MRA) under IFHAB according to OIC/SMIIC Standards,
- promote cooperation in training peer evaluators to take part in the peer evaluation processes,
- develop and maintain arrangements for the mutual recognition by signatories to IFHAB arrangement,
- work towards further development of the IFHAB Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MRA) under IFHAB according to OIC/SMIIC Standards,
- provide for the harmonization and consistent application of conformity assessment activities against OIC/SMIIC standards,
- assist the current and potential IFHAB members on matters related to the accreditation of Halal conformity assessment bodies,
- provide for the harmonization and consistency of accreditation practices and cooperation among IFHAB members,
- endorse the implementation of the IFHAB peer evaluation process according to the IFHAB Statute, OIC/SMIIC Standards, and the internationally accepted technical rules and Islamic rules,
- provide training, organize seminars, hold regular conferences, and establish special working groups where information relating to accreditation can be exchanged and criteria for consensus application documents can be established and administered,
- support arrangements for multilateral recognition under the IFHAB arrangement are relevant to the market place and the needs of stakeholders,
- identify common problems faced by HABs and propose alternative solutions.
